Here are some pictures from this year’s megaweb at Arkansas Bend State Park in Lago Vista, Texas. Similar to last year’s web at Lake Ray Hubbard, these webs are primarily constructed through the efforts of thousands of Tetragnatha guatemalensis (common name: Long-jawed Orbweaver). Of course, there are many other species present within the webs! And also, pictures and videos just can’t do it justice, if you can make it out to the park, I highly recommend visiting the webs in person π Enjoy! Videos to come.
So many eggsacs throughout the webs.
Can you count how many spiders are in this piece of web?
At the top of this image is what Joe Lapp calls a “highway”. Males use these bridges to travel around.
A mustachio’d jumper in the midst of everything π
T. guatemalensis profile.
This guy was flyin’!
Sunlight streaming through the webs was so beautiful.
Is this real life?
Hard to really capture the extent of the webbing. These trees are taller than 6′.
A very dense portion of webbing.
